Well, as planned, we filmed our band scene in the schools auditorium, accompanied with sound, lighting and instruments to ad to the effect. We also used the schools prized possession the HD camera, and the dolly so we had 100% smooth filming. We also had an addiotional camera so we can get some 'Behind the scenes footage on the auditorium. HOWEVER. the battery in the HD camera was left in when we packed up. so, unaware to us. the camera turned itself on in the box and re formatted, wiping ALL footage. Which is INCREDIBLY annoying and upsetting. not only because of the great film we had, which i had reviewed the night before, but we have added pressure from losing the use of the macs in our lesson, and having a shorter deadline. Anyway its all inthe past and we have rebooked the auditorium, any differences we wanted to make, such as costuming, we can now look at. So in a way, our first shoot was like a draft, which is a good thing i guess. anyway, the making of footage fortunately is still on the camera so we can use that as evidence of our misfortune and creates antoehr step on our journey to making our music video. I have researched some making of videos just to get a taste on how to edit them, and what we need to looking to film.
The video does actually have the song in production backing it. and I love the idea of showing footage of the film being taken from the behind the scenes, and then the actual footage, definately something i'll be considering. Anyway, thats it for now folkks

Safety/Hazard Analysis
hey guys, Now that the film dates are beginning to materilise and we are coming to a finish on the website, album cover and storyboard, we have to put up some safety analysis, becuase we are going to smashing up overhead projectors, controllably of course..
SETTING
We have a backyard space at one of my family members, where ther is plenty of space, with no houses, or dangerous surrondings nearby.
METHOD
We will be using a mallet which has a rubber/wooden head, just to 100% guarauntee there will be no electrical related danger.
The head of the mallet will come down through the plastic top so that all shards fall into the projector itself
PRECAUTIONS
We will be wearing safety goggles to guarantee that no damage will come to our eyes.
We will film from approximately 10 metres away a we are working on getting a thin sheet of perspex to protect the camera.
After using the overhead projectors we will clean up and all debris will be taken to the local dump.
If any injury is sustained, every participant has parents informatioj to get hold of and transport to a hospital will be availible if necessecary.
All parents/guardians are happy with us doing this and permission will be in written form.
EDIT
If there's anything we've missed, just let us know miss b :)

Not quite the end of Radiohead video
I have just now as I was packing up my note into my folder come across some other notes on Goodwin's six, Postmodernism and themes throughout the video. Some of these I have already mentioned in the other 2 parts.
Goodwin's Six
Intertextual reference of religion
Concept based with bit of performance (some vocal parts)
conventional of the artist (Radiohead)
Star status - Thom Yorke
Postmodernism
Challenging reality
Non diagetic & diagetic sounds
Religious theme
Style over substance/standard
Unmatched vocal syncing
Imagery
Layering/super imposition
Brickolage
No purpose - sake of the visuals
Experimental
Dream-like
Themes
Abstract
Animals
Black and white
Slow motion
Space and time
That now finally (hopefully) should be it.

Radiohead part 2
Sorry I didnt finish Radiohead yesterday- we got a film through from lovefilm so we watched that instead. Anyway heres:
Lighting
There is heavy use of non natural lighting throughout the video. My impression is it was filmed at night time (because of the black sky) but thinking about it the audience cant really tell because its in black and white. However the lighting is too strong just to be natural even if it was filmed in the daytime so some unnatural lighting is used. This is definitely apparent on the close up of Thom's face during the blurry face close up scenes, their is heavy use of the light and shadow effect. On some occasions the light is moving from 1 side of his face to another.
Editing
Throughout the whole video the editing generally follows the rhythm, the cuts happen on a beat. Because some of it is in slow motion in some parts of the video the speed of editing is slow. However there are other parts where the speed is high. The whole video follows the reverse/ manipulation/ confusion of time and space styles of editing. It is all over the place. There is no continuity and is not in order apart from the first falling part and then the end rising up part. These two bits are the start and the end and actually appear at the start and end. There is use of normal speed, a variety of slow motion amounts(sometimes really slow, other times only slightly) and sped up bits all mixed up. Sometimes in the video some bits are slow down but other bits are normal speed, for example when Thoms running(hes in slow-mo) but the boy is at normal speed or when the backgrounds in slow-mo but the foreground is not. The only way this could have been done is with the use of greenscreen/bluescreen. There is also the layering of Thoms face over another shot of his face already mentioned. Finally one very interesting edit is the slowing down of Thom singing so the vocals in the music dont match with the vocals shown being sung. This is very unique and I have never seen this done before.
And finally Camerawork
Firstly the film stock used/quality of the film used doesnt seem to be the average used. It is slightly lesser quality which gives the video a slight grainyness, only slightly but is noticeable. THis will have been done for effect, it makes it look older. Also even though we get lots of close ups of Thom's face he rarely looks at the camera- getting away from the direct address to the audience/ performance conventions, a play on his star status maybe. There a mix of various shot distances(close ups, mid shots, long shots etc) and a mix of angles and views, for example from up above looking down at Thom. There is also hardly any camera movement (eg pans, zooms). There are a couple of tiny tiny bits, ie a bit on the close up of the dog and a bit on 1 of the nun close ups. These two are hardly noticeable, so much so originally i thought there wasnt any but then thought surely there must be and I went through slowly and very closely. The only noticeable bit of camera movement is right at the end where Thom rises up, however i have my suscions that it is not the camera moving but because of greenscreen it is just the background moving upwards which come to think about would have still had to be filmed but its definitely not Thom moving.
And thats the end of my analysic of Radiohead's street spirit (fade out).

Radiohead- Street Spirit (fade out)
Hi, here is my first textual analysis (the 1 ive been promising for ages but havnt yet put up). I wrote this up in the pc room during todays lesson aswell as the kings of leon webpage analysis, but Radiohead first.
Mise-en-scene
The first thing you see when watching this video is Thom Yorke(the lead singer). This straight away draws attention onto him and shows the audience who is the main person from the band. This is known as 'star status'. Thom is positioned in a cross bearing manner and then on the cut of the music coming in he starts to fall. This is an intertextual reference to religion and is a running theme throughout the video. He stays in the same position even after he has fallen when he is on the lying on the roof of the car. This star status of Thom is hevily present throughout- the number of facial blury close ups of Thom during the video is surely over 100 and is easily the most used shot. Also there are a lot of shots of the whole band (Thom positioned front like expected) together like you would expect when they play live yet they have no instruments or gear (eg amps, microphones). This is pretty unique, a lot of videos have some aspect of performance. The location (a trailer park) is also an interesting choice- theres no link between it and the music/lyrics- it seems random. Another shot which appears regularly is nuns jumping. This runs with the religion theme and they seem 'angel-like'. The first time they appear is the same time as the violin comes in, another example of a action at the point of the music changing like when Thom starts falling. The reference to a dreamland is apparent- mainly through all the random things which occur in the video and also down to the fact that much of it is in slow motion. For example the 1 random shot of a tree with the night sky in the background which focuses on the exact moment a triangle instrument is struck. There are also 2 other examples of a shot representing a change in the music- the first 1 is the dogs chain moving on as the bass comes in and the final 1 is the smashing of the glass near the end which occure when the notes played on the guitar change slightly- the glass shows the climax of the song. Right at the end, just the same as the beginning Thom is shown in a cross bearing position but instead of starting to fall like at the start- he starts to rise up- signalling the end of the song and that it has gone full loop.
Sound
At the start their is no musical sound just diagetic sound. This is a wind howling/thunder noise but it blends out as the music come in. The use of the howling wind immediately suggests that he is high up. All the instruments come in as something is shown happening, I have already mentioned this above but another example is the running or jumping shown finishes at the same time as the vocals finish. There isnt much link between the lyrics and the visuals - the only 2 being after he says the line 'before we all go under' the next shot is of him swinging a stick under another him who is in slow motion. The stick is going under him. The other use is when he sings 'i fade out' and a close up of his face is shown but is layered over by another close up shot of his face. Technically the shot doesn't fade out- it is layered over the top of the original.
Right this takes longer than i thought- even just to elaborate on and copy up from my draft I did at school today. Ill put up editing, lighting and camerawork later. Ive also got some stills fro this music video to post up so you can see some of the aspects I have been talking about. Oh also I almost forgot- this is why you couldnt find me Mrs Bannon during todays lesson- i was putting my analysis's into order/note form and then looking for stills.

prop list
seeing as im not at school today i thought id tackle 1 of my 3 textual analysis.
im going to do my textual analysis of a music video by a band called Blink-182 called 'Adams Song'.
mise-en-scene
The video starts off with a wide shot of the band walking towards the camera with the city in the background and cars driving past. this shot establishes to the audience who the focal pooint of the video is and also gives the band some recognition. the way that they are walking, slouching, and the clothes/hairrstyles , hands in pockets, cap turned backwards, all these indicates to the audience what the target audience, and allows he audience to relate to them as the average teens that share the teen angst that all teens do
.
after this 8 seconds of footage, a photo is taken of them and zooms out to reveal the photo stuck to a wall of a room which the band are playing in.

however its not until the band start playing that we here lyrics, this would be linking the visuals with the music. the room that the band are playing in has an industrial feel to it. i think its an empty mulit story car park which has quite a dingy depressing feel to it, links to the depressingness of the song. theres also lots of pictures on the wall which are very roughly placed and accompanied with the wires averywhere, the whole set is given a very raw atmosphere.

the video then proceeds to show various different shots of the band playing in this set and a couple of verses of the song, the camera zooms into a different photo in the background and this changes the scene as the photo comes alive so to speak and we are now taken into a crowded hallway that appears to be a house party, which is typical of 90's americans teens. after going through the hallway we are pulled back and meet with the band holding their intruments. were then pulled out of the same picture and back into the carpark where the second chorus is played. this song is relativley depressing and this feeling is enforced by use of dull depressing colours aswell as unimpressed emotions on the bands faces. at one point in the song theres another party scene, these are promanent in the video, there is a close up of the drummer Travis, and his 'look' really sums up their audience by the things that he wears:
SOUND
the sound in any music video is the most important aspect as a video is initially just promoting the song. 'Adams Song' starts with a dull repetative riff that eventually kicks in with a drum beat as the photo is taken in the begining. the drum beat gets more upbeat as the camera zooms out to reveal the band. and as soon as the whole band is in sight, the lead singer starts singing. this song is all about teenage angst and the lyrics which supprt that idea would be "im too depressed to go on, youll be sorry when im gone." for example. throughout the song the lyrics "i never thought id die alone" are repeated which has been done for impact. another reason i beleive this song to be abouut teen angst is theres one lyric that says "give all my things to all my freinds, youll never step foot in my room again" this sounds like an instruction to a parent and it sounds as though this guy still lives with his parents, indicating that hes still a teen. he also mentions his mum quite alot in the song, another indication of teenagers.
im gunna do the camera work n editing at another occasion because Rob coker is here and i cba to to it all. xoxoxo

An update from me
Hi, firstly i cant believe its been a month since i last blogged- the time has flown...... oops. Anyway the website has come on leaps and bounds. There has been so many problems and fustrations throughout the process but i really think its going well, and the pace of my working has increased enormously overe the last few lessons. I finally understand (most of it at least) photoshop and its array of impressive features. I have decided to ditch using iweb because of its lack of functions and am now wholely producing the webpage using photoshop.
I know I still need to put up loads of analysis to proove that i actually did carry some out for both the music video element & the webpage element. Over this evening I have added to this. Its all now in note form- it just needs to be written up and put on the blog- oh joy! Ive got a free period tomorrow morning so i will do some of it then. Below is a list of things I have analysed so far in the massive detail required:

- Radiohead - Street Spirit (fade out) music video
- Kings Of Leon website homepage
- Enter Shikari website homepage
I know i need to analyse 1 more music video but im not sure if it has to be linked in with our plan (eg same type of music or slow mo idea) so I will ask Mrs Bannon when I see her on Tuesday.
Hopefully post up at least 2 out of the 3 above textual analysis's (im sure thats incorrect) tomorrow. Over and out for now. Adam

TARGET AUDIENCE
So, i have just read jebs entery earlier in the blog and saw that we haven't made a poll about our target audience, but what we are really looking to do is to appeal to a wide range of both male and female consumers, between the ages of 14 and 19. 14 because the bands that we are using the music videos for don't allow teens under the age of 14 to go to the concerts, and 19 because of the niche genre of the music. We are however are trying to appeal to a younger audience, hence the smashig of OHP's and variuos cool slow motion effects, always gets the adrenaline going in a teens body.
Anyway i will be making a poll which will affect what we put in the music video. so we meet our target audiences demands. fellow bloggers and friends will be encouraged to participate in this poll because they are the agegroup we are looking to appeal to.

Right, in time for a little update!
Unfortunately i haven't been on the blog in a while due to the american exchange and drama performances. HOWEVER its no excuse to keep active :)
So in class, we have begun to develop our emblem/symbol for our band to be put on the website, which this strange eagle we've made entirely out of different tools in a program on the macs, hopefully some pictures will be up for see the development of the picture. I really like the wings, we used this floral styled paintbrush, and at a specific angle, it looks like ruffled wings on this scraggly bird, raw.
adam is working on iweb in preperation for the website, but i'm going to go and help him after this post. also i am working on our final storyboard so we can show you what's ticking in our heads about this project.
obviously with the american exchange taking up ridiculous amounts of time, filming will not be planned until after that exchange, week beginning the 23rd november i think.
Until then, pre production is priority so we will be giving updates and images, maybe even a video in the mean time.

target age/gender n things.
Today im going to be talking about the target audience of the video were doing and ill also talk about shot lists, although i have a feeling that i may have already gone through that before. oh well.
Naturally we as a group are trying to attract the same audience as Enter Shikari do which tends to be teens age around 14-19 of either sex and have a taste for hardcore/trance/ravecore music. knowing this we then have to decide how to make our video attractive and appealing to that sort of market. now as it happens me josh n ahdum are between the ages of 14-19 and have a taste for hardcore/trance/ravecore music, so we knew what to do because we know what WE want!
we did a poll on the blog regarding what everyone thought our video should be like and how it should be done, and we listened. the song itself is very upbeat and fast past so the video had to do the same which means lots of quick cut editing and fast paced camera work, theses are all conventions of this genre of music, so thats all good. the thing is, the songs always come out before the videos, so the audience KNOWS the song, and the video wont exaclty juxtepose the video, it will conform and comply with the song e.g if the song is fast paced, then the video will be fast paced. what im trying to say is that if they like the song then the audience will like the video! iv now only just realised that im not ENTIRELY sure of all the shot that we want to involve in the video, so ill post this and then ill be back with a rehersed list of shots n stuff.

RESULT!!!!!!
After emailing Enter Shikari's management yesterday at around 11.20am, I was frankly not expecting a reply for at least a week if at all, oh how I was proved wrong. I was sent a reply at 11.30am only a few minutes after sending it so i got it as soon as i got home, hence the title. Here is the reply once again in its full entirety; it makes for good reading especially the 2nd paragraph.
Hi, it's fine to use it for your coursework etc. But... there has to be a rule (sorry)... you can't put it on Youtube, Myspace etc (or any website for that matter) and you can't burn DVDs for friends of it (as that would eventually lead to it going up on Youtube etc, it always does, no matter how much your mates say they won't).
If you send us a copy when it's done, i'll make sure the band see it. If it's awesome and they love it and stuff, then we'll see about making sure people see it and that you guys get credited and all that good stuff.
If you have any questions, i'm here all the time... laters, Ian
Now how cools that. Not only will we have the pressure of getting a good grade but also Enter Shikari will critique it themselves and it could lead to 'good stuff'. Ill send an email later thanking Ian, confirming the rule and our excitment at the prospect of them liking it. Its just a shame Josh is off ill so he doesnt know yet.

Permission to use the song letter/email
I have just emailed Enter Shikari's management through their website about using the song for our music video. Here is the letter in its whole entirety.
Hello, we are from Thurston Community College, situated in Thurston near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk and are currently studying 'A' level Media Studies. For our coursework we have decided to create a music video. We have decided that we would like to use Enter Shikari's song 'Hectic'. This email's purpose is to ask you for permission to use the song to create our own music video. Thank you for taking the time to read our email and we look forward to your response.
I drafted this up during last lesson and found out where to send it this morning.

Little bit of inspiration
With Adam and Jacob working hard with website design, blog research and storyboards, I decided to also contribute a bit more to the blog with a bit of background on the director who is the inspiration of our foetus of a music video, Jonathan Glazer. However i have noticed that no-one has put up the Zzzonked promo video, because of the restictions of the internet at school, we can't save them to the hard drive and embed them. So heres the link ------> ZZZONKED <------ , no back there.
Ok so enough of Shikari and some more of Jonathan glazer, or iTz Glaz0r .x as his xbox live gamertag refers to him.
Jonathan Glazer was born in London in 1966 and after spending a fairly average childhood and school life, he studied theatre design and moved on to nottingham trent university, from there on, Jonathan directed theatre and made movie trailers. Eventually making award winning stuff for BBC. but in the 90's Jonathan really made the headline with his award winning music videos, featuring this beauty in '95 from radiohead. (which is possibly the video we are most inspired by!) Jonathan Made it out to be MTV director of the year in 1997.
With all these music video's Joanthan has also done alot of work in commercials such as the Guiness surfer ad (Swimblack Surfer) and Stella Artois' Devils Island ad. (which is one of my favourite ads of all time :) ) Jonathon has always been praised for his originality in videos and charming, yet sometimes dry wit. His manipulation of time and space within his videos are the main aspect of what really drew him to me, inspiring us in our own work.
Just a quick note, i got some photo's of the storyboards myself and jacob did Wednesday but obviously due to computer restrcitions, i can't upload until im at home. sad, sad face. anyway time for me to look up some more beauties such as Chris Cunningham, with his weird videos and Spike Jonze and his guerilla style filming, to round our film into an INSPIRATION MASTERPIECE - BWAHA.
Till next time :) x

story board ideas.
ok, so yesterday whilst adam was doing something else media related, me and josh sat down with the intention of tackling the story board.
we did well considering its really concept based and we tend to work better when were spontaneous. we came to the conclusion that we were going to have a performance based video that cuts to anf fro from a narrative/concept bit.
sounds complicated.
allow me to explain.
so were starting off with a opening shot of hopefully the auditorium (something we need to look at) or if that fails, then probbly a room in my house. there will be 4+ amps in the room as this is conventional of any perfromanced based music video.
actors in the video will be:
me=miming lead singing
josh=drums
jamie D= guitar
Will B=bass.
in between shots of us 'rocking out' we planned to follow this guy running through streets and buildings whilst playing with time. its hard to explain, but as hes running various things will be happening (pots smashing as hes pushes them, water spraying, panes of glass smashing, you get the idea) this will supply the video with a certain degree of narrative as at the end of the video theu guy running will arrive at his destination. now weve debated what he should be running from, running to, and i think it would be a good idea if by the end we finish on a shot of the perfomance set, but thave the guy run in and meet up with the band or something, bring them together, could be cool.
now that the video has been pretty much laid out, i will go through various technical ideas we considereing.
from day one i had always just invisaged the video to be shot in black and white, im not sure why but if yu think about it, when yu cancel out the colour, it meens the audicence has there undivided attention on whats visually going on and cant be distracted by colour.
well see how that goes though, it may be that its just the performance bit thats black and white, but we will see.
this being said, we would like to use (your going to have to forgive my lack of media knowledge on this subject) that thing that picks out certain colours and changes them. with this done in black and white i think it would look super kool. we firgured that we would pick one item of clothing of each of us and change it to the colour of our emblem, which will be a deep red (just like enter shikari's).
urm, i think this it is for the now, but if i think of anything, you bet youll be the fisrt to know

Goodwin's 6
So far our planning posts have been brilliant but we have minimal theory. This is a key part so I thought id spend some time putting up my theory notes since we started the A2 work.
One of the first things we were taught was 'Goodwin's 6'. These are 6 features of music videos which Andrew Goodwin identified. They are the following:
1)genre characteristics (eg stage performance in a metal video).
2)relationship between lyrics and visuals (either illustative, amplifying, contradicting).
3)relationship between music and visuals (again either illustative, amplifying, contradicting).
4)The demands of the record label will include the need for lots of close-ups of the artist and the artist may develop motifs which reoccur across their work (star status and a visual style).
5)frequent reference to the notion of looking (screens within screens, telescopes, etc) and particularly voyeuristic treatment of the female body.
6)Often intertextual reference (to films, tv programmes, other music videos, etc). Also this point is a key element in the context of postmodermism (more about that later!!!)

zzzonked official video. lol
this is the music video for enter shikari's zzzonked filmed live at the Norwich UEA on the 5th October 2009. this footage shows the style that enter shikari like to use when filming a video. as you can see, very faced paced, alot of crash zooms, black an white effects. this is typical of post hardcore bands because its very upbeat and gets you pumped lol. im actualry in the video (0:37) and so is josh (3:01) not to brag or na'fin. on closer inspection you will be able to see that there is some time manipulation, like speeding it up and slowing it down. we hope to incoorperate this into our video, as this specific element seams to pop up in every enter shikari video, so good times.
more to come soon.

Song Timings
Hi, here are the timings that we picked when the music reached a pinnacle or change of tempo or style which I promised to put up a few days ago. The timings are however done with how long the song has left to play NOT how long the song has been on for due to the track being with another track on Josh's iPod. So for example 3:17 is the first timing so that means it is 3mins 17secs from the end of the song. Here they are:
3:17, 2:57-6, 2:46, 2:36-4, 2:28-5, 2:05, 1:44, 1:02, 0:41, 0:30, 0:23-21, 0:12, 0:02
The next stage is to decide what is going to be happening at these key points and during the build up to them. I've got a few things noted down but nothing concrete yet.
So on Fridays lesson we need to get the letter sent off about using the song, choose our artistic direction for the ancillary tasks and start to decide whats happening when during our music video. The last task may very well roll over into next Tuesdays lesson but we don't want to rush our planning.

iWeb is great fun!!
Hello its me, I spent todays lesson introducing myself and getting to grips with iWeb. The good thing was for once the tutorials were really useful and helped a lot. Even though they were for a newer version they still had the same basics. I will put the link for them at the end of this post. I also made some notes on the more difficult aspects and important features and ill scan those and put them up also.
Heres the tutorials page - just click the links for the various videos.

well, in reply to Miss B's message, we can say that we know this much
the band appear to be fun loving and mischeivious as inbetween songs they were telling 'funny' jokes
they swear alot in their songs, so there obviously a desired taste.
there emblum is a lion of which was plastered all over the amps and banners around the place.

lol update.
bonjour, me and josh went to go see enter shikari last night for media purposes only, to study the way in which they go about things. for example, last night they filmed the video for a song called 'zzzonkd' and after being a part of it, we were able to see how a professional would go about filming an enter shikari song. lol. as soon as they get it all edited and looking good we will upload it and you can see yourself. (the lead singer said the video will be within 48 hours.)
we have to sign out real quick because out time has run out, but, give me second and 'ill be back'

Hi, its me. First off sorry guys that I wasnt in the lesson on Friday and I havnt been blogging for a few days. I went to the Liverpool university visiting day held on Friday and went to Manchester open day on Saturday. Both were fantastic but enough of that now - got to make sure I get the grades i need so some Media coursework blogging is due. As Josh has already said on Tuesday we went through and analysed the song were going to do; 'Hectic'. I do have the timings and these will follow after this overview of what I have been doing over the last few days. We also decided on what ancillary tasks were going to do, with me being pretty stuborn about the the idea of doing a webpage. So I will be concentrating on that ancillary task while Jeb and Josh concentrate on theirs (I think promotional poster).
Then in Wednesdays lesson I did some research to find out what exactly it was I had to do; a homepage of a website ands so I am going to do a Enter Shikari webpage homepage. And then for the rest of the lesson I did research and looked at a number of band homepages and made a list of all the things they included. It surprised me how many of them were very very similar - with pretty much the same dropdown bars at the top and roughly the same content included on the website as a whole. The only common differences were of cosmetic design(fonts, colour etc) However I did come across a few sites which differed comsiderable.
I will put up the more detailed information I found from both lessons tomorrow morning aswell as a few other bits and bobs over the next couple of days

theory
today we dcided to bukle down and do some theory, so as seeing as were not doing anythying narratvie based, so we cant do a story board. so we thought about doing a shot list:
long shots, extreme close up, crash zoom, follow shot, kanterd angle/dutch tilt, shot reverse shot. more updates will follow.
lol xx

Analysing the song
With the decision of 'Hectic' as our song choice set in stone, we decided to pick apart the synths and bassline and find some key points in which to use our experimentive concept based slow motion scenes.
Unfortunately Ahdum hasn't been at school today and has the times that we picked when the music reached a pinnacle or change of style, we can only hope that ahdum is at home witht the blog website up and the times in his hand so he can put them up on here. Unfortunately i doubt that is the case.
Myself and Jeb, who is next to me now, are going to go attempt at storyboarding, even though we are notriously bad for ditching whatever pre-ideas we come up with and improvise.
Jeb and Josh out.

to elaborate on Adam's previous post, the links that were posted are two of enter shikari's promo videos. Now we slected these ones because both feature slow motion in them, particulary 'Jonny Sniper'. The effects of smoke, fire and extreme facial expressions have proven to be very effective in slow motion and adds alot more effect and drama. Also body shape in the air can look real sweet too.
We are quite lucky to actually have videos from the band that we are hopefully using in our music video. We just need to try and get permission.
For ine of the ancillary tasks Adam is going to do a webpage, so below is enter shikaris REAL webpage for his purposes, and for you, the readers, to have a look at if you like.

Hello from me
Hi, im the new member of this blog, Adam. I have joined up with jeb and josh as elliot left media studies at the end of last year. From the start of this year we were all certain that we wanted to do a music video as our main piece. We have chosen a song as jeb has already mentioned and I believe its a fantastic song to chose as it has got a huge mix of tempos and speeds to it as a whole. It is probably the perfect song to do relating to the 'time and space' idea we agreed upon. We have a good idea of want we want to do but what we need to do is put that with the music/lyrics and then have an order to our ideas. We have begun to think about the locations, at the moment the local multi-story car park features heavily and what day filming will take place on. It looks like it will be on a wednesday because of the free periods and lessons we have and the fact it won't be busy unlike a saturday or sunday.
Finally can I just add how thrilled I am at the prospect of working with jeb and josh and the immense piece of work we will produce. I am currently about to re-doing my year 12 media coursework and more details about a link for that will follow shortly.

thoughts...
we knew from square one that we wanted to do a video with ALOT of slo motion junk, lots of breaking stuff, lots of slo motion fire, basically stuff that would look epic when its slowd down.
and with this idea in hand, we had to think of a song that would appropiratley go with this. goss. we needed a song that was fast paced in places but varied in parts. goss. the song that we eventually chose was a song called 'Hectic' by a band called 'Enter Shikari'. this band isnt exactly world renown. this song is what goss calls 'trance core' and is rather post modern, so that may score us browny points with the powers that be.
lol

NEW BEGINNINGS
Ok, with the start of year 13, we have lost Elliot, and gained Adam, a.k.a. AHDUM GUZ. With our new team we set to make a music video that will literally blow your mind, along with 2 ancillary tasks, which will be equally awesome.
We have decided to follow the traits of Jonathan Glazer in our video, altering time and space, by using final cut express, and its abilties it has to offer such as layering and reversing the video.
We have been out with the schools pride and joy HD camera, to get some experiments and see what the quality of the film would be like when put to various speeds. Some experiments included jumping, jumping on people, and even spitting water and breaking 'stuff'. We are happy with what we made, and have learned the basics of FINAL CUT EXPRESS HD. Now we just need to plan, and further posts will update you :)

Take 3!... :(
After filming in 'The Pit's' we realised that the footage too, was not up to the standard we want. Jeb has been in Russia, so me and elliot have been drastically strategising a last ditch attempt to get some decent footage that actually show our understanding of media camera angles etc.
The new story has some major changes from its predecessors. For example, the whole serial killer cannibal stalker type chase is getting old, really old. It is cliched, but it's quite fun to do. So, we have based the storyline on LEON more than anything. We have a man in a cafe/restaurant, then he gets an anonymous phone call, gets in the car and drives to a building where some people are playing poker. After a few rounds and flashing of some cards, he recives a small package. Loads of enigmas are created liek 'whats the package' who's the man' what's he doing'.
We have already filmed the cafe and car bits, with a big thanks to JAMIE CROWE for the car. We have booked out the auditorium the coming monday, and should FINALLY be finishd filmin once and for all. thank god for that.
'osh, Das svedania!

were a bit dissaponted about the norwich footage, we had high hopes, but... just wasnt ment to be, cameron complaind all the time...and there WAS alot of walking.
so, we plan to re-shoot in "the pit" in Thurtson, its just a wooded area where we can shoot our new idea. the new idea, being:
a girl(victoria) is being chased through the wood by a deranged nut case. it will open up with a police database of the antagonist(elliot), displaying his age, sentance, mental state and other conventional infomation. after some chasing, and heavy breathing, the protagonist falls down, and the antagonist attempts to kill her... but she kills him, or atleast thats what we are led to beleive....creating an Enigma
jebosh out...

Little update
We are just confirming that CAMERON is our antagonist.
we dont need anymore, which saves him £10 in transport i guess.
We haven't had any luck with the police, so we are just going to go for it.
GROUP INFO -
we are meeting at Josh's house as soon as school buses get in, so 9.15 is the maximum. You need at least £10 for train transport and probably money for lunch - see you all then
jebosh over n out.

RIGHT.....
In the last few installments we have made some dramatic changes to our piece, changing the plot, location and actors. I just going to sum it all up for us. Because readijng back, seems a little confusing..
OK, so:
We are filming in Thurston, Stowmarket, and Norwich train stations, the fact that the train we need to catch goes through all of these.
We are not using Will, I asked him, and he has other media commitments to attend to which is fine. I rang my friend Martin, who is at the local college (WSC), who is doing a media course, as well as being a former media classmate of Jeb and myself. He is able to act for us which is great, but he tends to be quite funny, so maybe if we want a serious clip, we'll have to consider his role. I also rung my friend Cameron, who is in a different sixth form doing a similiar media course. If you want to see his blog for his film click here. Anyway, he looks a lot more like what me and the boys imagined our main character to be, and, probably would take this role seriously, which is excellent. So, concluding our characters, we have two candidates for the main role, and we can incorp' the other in the piece.
In terms of costumes, we have asked both Martin and Cam to bring various items of clothing, and we'll bring a notepad on the day, so we can write down exactly what they were wearing, keeping the continuity of the film, uh... continual. We are planning on using on of those russian hats and some smart/casual clothes.
We are OFFICIALLY FILMING on the 19th of January - which is a MONDAY. meaing that we need signatures from both parents and teachers.
As long as my camera is the right format, then we will be taking two cameras, to conserve time and make that time efficient in the amount of shots we do.
Well, that's it for now, we'll keep you updated on any minor changes, but besides that - THE CHANGES ARE MADE, NO RETURN.
P.s. We are having a little trouble contacting the police about filming on the train and train station. So.. if we can't get through soon we may just have to take the risk of having to explain ourselves - nothing big.
Josh - out.

josh love ladies
so our idea (in final?) is to have Will (josh has go to ask him yet) he will be on a train going to a "meeting"... there will be losts of creepy shots of his face, and POV shots of will. what we intend to do is to record a conversation going on between a psychiatrist and a doctor, and they will be disscusing Will. We will take the audio from this conversation and super-impose it on the "train footage". we have also flirted with the idea of having "gruesomely suspicious" flashbacks, maybe child abuse? or early cannabalism? oh yah i forgot to say, that Will is a cannible... we will make this aparant by the use of dialogue coming fromt teh voice over. and, if we ACTULARY do have some "super freeky" jump cut/flashback/montages then...possibly you will see some weird stuff.

So this is Norwich train station, when its empty. will hopefully be a bit busier when we go there to create a rushed and lost feeling!! but yeah, just a teaser of what to expect in our fina piece :D Looks pretty small in this pocture but its actully pretty big in real life! Hopefully we can get some good tracking shots and POV shots to create the rushed sense!! Byeee x

Final Ideas?!
We are no longer going to London, weve decided that Norwich can fulfill our needs just as well!
So hopefully will be shooting on 12th January, if we sort everything out!
We have a storyboard as well now so have a pretty good idea of where we need to go in Norwich and what kind of shots we will need! :D Still thinking of using Bamber however, possibly the only thing that has stayed the same from the start?!
Hopefully the train journey to Norwich will give us enough time to shoot our first few shots (which obviously are on a train), and if not the we always have the way back!!
